Depending on the year of your Kozi model and burnpot style, there are a few replacement igniter options. The side entry igniter, part EC2-CAIRK-120 was used in the 100 Insert, 100 XL, Baywin, KSH Shop Heaters, Model 100, and Previa models with the side ignition style burnpot. The contact air igniter with the burnpot stand, part number CAIRK120 is the ignition kit for the 100 Insert, 100 XL, Baywin, KSH Shop Heaters and Model 100 pellet stoves that includes the burnpot stand and rear mount igniter element. Lastly, the EC2-HA-120 igniter is a back/rear entry element into the burnpot which fits all models that have the MX/MX2 digital control board.

During start-up, the igniter will get cherry hot and the combustion air rushing around the igniter becomes 'super-heated' creating ignition to the pellet fuel in the burnpot. As the igniter gets weak over time we will often notice missed ignition cycles or the element not functioning at all. Keep in mind it's the air rushing around the igniter lighting the fire. If there is air loss or air blockage issues in your Kozi model, there will be ignition issues.

If you are experiencing ignition troubles with your stove, check the simple things first

  • Burnpot is clean and seated properly
  • Front door and ash door are closed and the gasket seal is tight all the way around
  • Ash accumulation in the stove and exhaust venting has been removed/cleaned out
  • Air intake passageway is free and clear
  • Combustion blower is running at proper voltage

You can also use a basic multi-meter to test the ohms on your igniter element to determine if it's in proper range. Watch our helpful guide videos below on igniter testing and common igniter replacement and installation.

Kozi pellet stoves will have two timer blocks. The TMR120AM 120V 15 minute timer block which is for the start-up cycle, and the TMR120AC auger cycle timer block which monitors the fuel feed cycle. If your Kozi is having issues going from start-up into normal operating mode, we will want to take a closer look at the 15 minute timer block. If your Kozi is having auger feed issues during normal operating mode, we will want to take a closer look at the auger cycle timer block.

If you have a Kozi 100 Insert, 100 XL, Baywin, KSH Shop Heaters, Model 100, or Previa pellet stove model with the early turn-dial rotary control board, the HLW01 hi-low wall thermostat conversion kit will allow thermostat temperature control capabilities. Be sure to inspect your wiring during your annual maintenance. It's always good practice to clean off dust and debris from the wire leads that go to your motors, switches, and control board. If you notice any cracks, breaks or melted wires, it would be advised to replace the wiring harness; the WIRHDC01 is offered for Kozi models with the digital control board.
