I have a 2008 mt. Vernon that I can not get the error code “convection blower over i” to clear. I tried 2 new convection blowers with no luck. Any advice? I am thinking it’s the control board but it’s not very old.
Hey Bryan,
Running this past our lead technicians. That’s an odd error code. As soon as I hear back I’ll follow-up ASAP.
Thanks,
Hey Bryan, here are some notes from our lead tech on this issue and error code.
This error code means that there is an issue with current flow in the room fan circuit. 4 causes, 1)wire harness and connector molexes, 2)room fan connection terminal corrosion, 3)motherboard connection terminal corrosion, 4)motherboard. #1 is the least expensive and usual culprit. Rule out #2, new fan.
Hope that is helpful, if you have any further questions just let us know. Thanks!
This is Chris. I have similar error message, but it says Combustion Blower Over I. I’ve cleaned all contacts. The fane runs for period and then right before it hit high speed it gives me that error.
Thanks Chris. Touching base with our techs on this. I will follow-up ASAP.
Hey Chris, Heard Back. Combustion Blower Over I is going to be the same as Convection Blower Over I just referring to the combustion blower. Could be 1)Wire harness and connector molexes, 2)Combustion blower connection terminal corrosion, 3)Motherboard connection terminal corrosion, 4)Motherboard. #1 is the least expensive and usual culprit.
If you need further assistance or references please let us know.
Thanks!
Had problem with calibration setting, just keep adjusting.
Replaced thermostat some issue. What is the problem?

Did you ever get a response to a repair fix
I have a Mount Vernon AE pellet insert. On shut down, whether temp was reached or auto clean. I get a clicking noise that sounds like metal against metal every 5 sec and continues until the stove shuts down. This only happen when on the stove is shutting down. Any suggestions.
Hey Eric,
Ran this past our lead technician – His notes on this: It’s not a clicking sound made by a motor/blower but rather a ticking or popping sound from expansion and contraction of the metals. At this point the stove has been real hot and is now cooling. I had one or two I came across in the field that were very similar and both were inserts. If I recall correctly there is a real thin layer of sheet metal between the firebox and hopper and you can duplicate it in startup if you overload the firepot at ignition and build heat fast.
One of our other techs mentioned: Could it be happening when it is going through the auto clean? Auto clean rail noise or something from underneath the firebox floor?
Let’s see if we can pin-point the area where the noise is coming from – if you have a stethoscope, even a child’s play one, it can really help to pinpoint the area where the noise is coming from.

My Mt. Vernon AE thermostat is blank, no illumination. Following the user manual and troubleshooting guide I verified AC power from power supply to control board and verified 15 volts DC at the control board. I verified 3.3 volts DC all the way to the thermostat pins on the back of the thermostat itself. According to the user manual under such conditions it is suggested to replace the thermostat, ordered replacement and its the exact same condition.
Which only goes to show, dont ignore troubleshooting 101. The red and green thermostat wires were reversed, feeling real dumb.
Thanks for the message Hal. Don’t feel dumb at all, this happens to all of us. Plus this is a great point for others as well – always check the simple things and basics first. Just glad to hear that you are back up and running again. Any future questions please let us know.
Appreciated!
My Mt Vernon AE says convection blower jammed. I’ve already replaced the convection blower fan, I’ve cleaned the unit inside and out, even the exhaust pipe outside the house. The new fan motor worked for 10 days and now getting same error message “convection blower jammed”. What do you suggest. Thank you
Thanks for contacting us Brent. I ran this past our lead technician. Here is the response back:
Four things likely causing this error code from best case to worst case scenario.
1. The number 3 (overtemp) snap switch located on the drop tube above the drop tube TC. Is the switch button tripped? Reset the switch button. Switch must be closed, check for continuity, could also be a spade connector issue showing up intermittently.
2. The wire harness connecting the room blower to the bottom and side terminals of the motherboard. Bad connection likely, replace if the #3 snap switch checks out ok. Check for burn marks at the blower molex connector. Any of the to the board and blower molex connections could be intermittently faulty.
3. Room blower is bad, replace.
4. Motherboard output to the room blower is bad, replace the motherboard.
If you want to check the power supply, the PS output for the motherboard DC plug-in should be 15 volts DC. I would be shocked if that was it since this has more to do with electrical path vs electrical output DC. Number 1 & 2 are most likely, #3 has been done and worked for a while which brings you back to #1 & # 2. The usual number one culprit is the wire harness for the room blower in my experience.
