Welcome Back to Pellet Tech 101!
This blog will cover the Country/Iron Strike/Lennox Winslow PS40 and PI40 maintenance, troubleshooting, and error code outline. The Winslow PS40 and PI40 models were originally manufactured by Country. Lennox (IHP) then acquired rights and began manufacture of the Winslow models. Shortly thereafter, Iron Strike acquired the Winslow models, now referred to as the Winslow and Winslow PI. Although this model has had different manufacturers over the years, the components and operation of the unit has stayed the same. Replacement Winslow stove parts will work for all years of manufacture. This troubleshooting guide will go cleaning and maintenance, control board operation, diagnostic error codes, components, wiring diagram, problem/solution scenarios, and part replacements.

Stove shut down but blown stops to soon ,exhaust comes into the room
Hey Jim, thanks for messaging us. The Low limit POF switch on the exhaust fan is what opens to shut down the combustion blower once the stove is cool enough. Let’s inspect that switch closer, it may be weak and opening before proper temperature is sensed for it to do so. Here is the switch for reference. https://pellethead.com/product/pellethead-replacement-lennox-iron-strike-proof-of-fire-ceramic-low-limit-snap-switch/
Hello! I am hoping someone else has dealt with this issue and can provide some advice. I am having an issue with my Winslow PS40 starting. The blower fan sounds like it will kick in but doesn’t and then we get a red light code of one short and one long. The auger and ignitor seem to work fine. I have cleaned and replaced the vacuum hose, fire switch, replaced the blower, replaced the fan on the left side, replaced the ignitor, wire harness, fuses and adjusted the hopper switch as well as the standard cleaning of ash from different areas within the stove. We have a work around of turning the stove to 2 and then plugging it in and it will work after a few tries. This work around got us through last year but is not viable going forward.
Thanks for contacting us, happy to help. The one short and one long light code on your Winslow will indicate a vacuum issue. Sounds like power is coming to your combustion blower but it’s unable to operate without proper vacuum. This can be caused by air loss, air blockage, or an issue with the switch itself.
Few things here to check:
1. Inspect the vent pipe all the way into the combustion blower manifold/housing to ensure nothing is blocking it.
2. Inspect the intake air inlet. If you have fresh air coming from outside, inspect that pipe. If not, shine a light in that cavity from underneath the burnpot to the back of the stove to ensure nothing is blocking it.
3. Let’s make sure your front door, glass, and ash pan door gasket is sealing tightly all the way around. If there are any air gaps it will trip the vacuum switch.
4. Let’s do a quick test on the vacuum switch to make sure it’s in proper working order. Reference Video: https://youtu.be/kR0DQ6_YXuI?si=p_ldccruUry_4Mj3

I replaced my Winslow p140 auger motor but the auger still won’t move. The motor is good. There doesn’t appear to be anything preventing it from moving. What else could be the problem? Thank you!
Thanks for contacting us Pam, Happy to help. Does the auger motor seem to be trying to turn? If it does, than that will indicate some sort of jam in the auger shaft. Pull out the auger shaft for a deep cleaning if this is the case and check the auger mount plate w/bushing. If it appears no power is going to the motor, than it’s most likely one of the safety switches not allowing it to run.
If this is the case, let’s look at the high limit switch and vacuum switch. Each of these can be bypassed individually to see if it is the issue. Here’s a quick video on creating a jumper wire to do this – https://youtu.be/FDVkbsHS95U?si=2lCTUhEzN2bnCt7Z
If the auger works when jumping the vacuum switch, we need to look at a few things as it may not be the switch itself. Any air loss or air blockage can trip the vac switch and not allow the auger motor to run.
Check:
1. Vacuum Switch Hose – No cracks, tight connections
2. Stove Door Rope Gasket and Glass Gasket Sealing Tight
3. Combustion/Exhaust Motor Operating Normal during start-up (Near Line Voltage).
4. Exhaust Vent Pipe Flue Cleaned – No Obstructions.
5. Air Intake Port – No obstructions.

Hi my stove needed a new ignitor so I changed it, also cleaned both fans. Tryed it and it will not function the ignitor. It had 50 volt before i changed it now its only 26 volt. Do you think the board Potably got fried. Guess im just wondering if anything else would cause it loose voltage.
Thanks for contacting us. In the Winslow models the igniter cycle and voltage/charge comes directly from the control board. Double check the electrical lead wires, should be line voltage to the igniter during the startup sequence. The Winslow Igniter should read between 33-43 ohms to be in proper range for ignition. Inspect your circuit board and molex connector to the board to see if anything looks burnt or damaged. Double check the igniter fuse with your multi-meter to ensure it’s reading proper amperage. Here is the reference to the replacement control board. Please keep us posted. https://pellethead.com/product/iron-strike-lennox-winslow-ps40-pi40-circuit-control-board-oem/
Thanks,
Hello Iam having issues with my Country PS 40 shutting down and kicking my GfI. Ive recently cleaned the stove and the fans. Ive replaced all the switches. It fried my ignition fuse so i replaced that when i put the new one in it fried it again. i did replace the igniter last year could that be the culprit. It has not fired since ive replaced all these new parts.
Thanks for contacting us, received both of your messages. Somewhere we have a direct short taking place. Your Winslow igniter is in proper OEM range. Is the igniter element touching the metal housing? With a good light thoroughly inspect the igniter wires and igniter receiving wires – make sure there are no bare wires or loose ends. Check the other component wiring as well. Keep us posted, happy to help.
Follow up on my last comment I put another fuse in and disconnected the igniter the fuse didnt blow. But i also tested the igniter and it had 36 ohms so iam stumped?
