Can you scrap a charred lens with steel wool and reuse – or you have to replace? My pellet stove keeps turning off at low; but when on high it continues burning for a time and then turns off again. I am thinking the photo eye needs replacing; but wonder if I can re-use the lens if I clean the charred area?
Thanks for contacting us. Generally speaking if the photoeye lens or amber glass is charred, it would require replacement to work properly again. You can certainly try to clean the lens best you can and see what happens, but most likely will need replacement. Any other questions please let us know.
