Heatilator Eco-Choice PS35, PS50, and CAB50 models will use a loop-style igniter element. If you are burning wood pellets only we recommend the 300 watt element, part SRV7000-647. If you are burning a mixture of bio-fuels, we recommend the 380 watt element, part SRV7000-462. Heatilator Eco-Choice boiler and furnace models will either use the finned igniter element 3-20-677200 or the pressure igniter element 1-00-10450 depending on the year of manufacturer. Models with the pressure igniter element will have the igniter air-pump 3-20-02679.

The igniter is located in the base of the burnpot and receives a charge from the control board during the start-up cycle allowing the element to get cherry hot. The combustion air rushing past the igniter becomes 'super-heated' creating ignition to the pellets in the burnpot. For pressure ignition models, the air pump will pass air through the element for ignition.

When you are experiencing an ignition issue check the simple things first.

  • Ash build-up in the stove/vent – thoroughly clean
  • Door and ashpan gasket sealing tight – inspect and test
  • Burnpot/Firepot – cleaned and seated properly
  • Combustion blower operating correctly – inspect and test
  • Air pump inspected and tested in pressure ignition models

Keep in mind, it's the super heated air that passes by the igniter that is creating ignition. If we have any issues with air loss or air blockage we will have ignition issues. You can check your igniter ohms with a basic multi-meter to determine if it is in proper range.
