Genuine OEM replacement Freedom Independence PS21 igniter sleeve weldment combination, part 21018. The igniter sleeve weldment encases the igniter element. The igniter sleeve must be in place for safe and proper operation. The PS21 igniter element is sold separately and linked below if you need a replacement. The igniter sleeve should be replaced if there is an cracks, breaks, or warpage. The igniter element and sleeve are located on the right side when facing the stove and mount within a side housing to the burnpot. During the start-up cycle the igniter will receive an electrical charge allowing it to become cherry hot. The combustion blower air rushing past the igniter element in addition to the igniter air tube becomes super-heated creating fast ignition to the fuel in the burnpot. Once ignition is achieved and the unit goes into normal operating mode the igniter will turn off. If you are experiencing ignition issues, make sure there are no air losses or blockages in the unit. Check this igniter sleeve weldment and replace if damaged. The igniter can be tested by checking the ohms to see if it is in proper range.
