Glow Boy pellet stoves will have a couple different convection fans based on the model and year of manufacturer. The convection fan, also referred to as the distribution blower or room-air fan, circulates air through the heat exchange tubes, dispersing the heated air into the room. It's important to be regularly cleaning your convection fan; a dry paint brush and compressed air are great tools for removing dust and debris from the motor windings and impeller wheel. Almost all Glow Boy pellet stove models manufactured after August 2013 will use convection fan KS-5020-1052. For models manufactured prior to May 2013, most units will use convection fan part numbers KS-5020-1050 and ACCVFNAS. For this convection fan we offer an aftermarket motor kit; please see our video below for installation and general maintenance on this style blower.
The Glow Boy combustion blower, also referred to as the exhaust fan or draft motor, pulls air through the burnpot, past the heat exchange tubes, down the rear firewall, expelling the exhaust out of the flue vent pipe. Same as our convection fan, we want to be regularly cleaning the combustion blower and combustion blower housing from dust, debris, and accumulated ash build-up. We offer aftermarket replacement combustion blower kits for Glow Boy part numbers ACCBFNAS and KS-5020-1040. This blower kit is the correct replacement for Bayview, Bayview insert, Flat Top, Step Top, and Home Heater models. See our video below for general installation of our combustion blower kit.
Most Glow Boy pellet stove models will use a 2 RPM clockwise rotation auger feed motor, part numbers ACAMTRAS and KS-5010-1010. The auger motor works in tandem with the control board and will intermittently churn fuel up the auger shaft based on your heat selections. As our auger motor starts to wear we will often hear abnormal noises during operation, experience frequent auger jams, inconsistency will fuel delivery, or failure of the motor. Keep in mind there are several safety switches in-line with the auger motor in your Glow Boy. If there is an issue or a safety sensor is tripped, it will prevent the auger motor from working. When performing your regular maintenance, be sure to check the auger motor bushing and replace if there is 'slop' or notable wear. See our videos below for direct testing your auger motor and general installation replacement.
