We carry two different igniter elements for USSC Ashley and King pellet stove models. The 80604 igniter element replacement will be correct for the Ashley AP5660L and AP5710 pellet stove models. The 80607, 80619, 80481 igniter element will be correct for Ashley AP5770 and King 5500, 5500M, 5500XL, and 5510 models.

The igniter is located at the base of the burnpot. During the start-up cycle the igniter will receive a charge from the control board allowing the element to get cherry hot. The combustion air rushing past the igniter becomes ‘super-heated’ creating ignition to the pellets in the burnpot. If we have any issues with air loss or air blockage we will have ignition issues. You can check your igniter ohms with a basic multi-meter to determine if it is in proper range.

When you are experiencing an ignition issue and your igniter element is in proper ohm range, check the simple things first.

  • Ash build-up in the stove/vent – thoroughly clean
  • Door and ashpan gasket sealing tight – inspect and test
  • Burnpot/Firepot – cleaned and seated properly
  • Combustion blower operating correctly – inspect and test

When it comes time to replace your Ashley or King stove igniter element, make sure your stove is unplugged from the wall, have a good light source, and have the right tools handy. General installation guide video below on replacing a rear mount igniter.
